CABLE REELS

WD7 reel, custom punching and wiring available at extra cost.

These strong, yet light, cable reels
are built from heavy-gauge steel with
welded frames for rugged durability.

The premium WD1-WD4 reels feature
a unique adjustable braking system
that controls thespeed of the spool
during payout and eases turning
during rewind.

The economical MR Series reels offer
heavy-duty cable storage in a compact
design.

Models WD5, WD6, and WD7 are specially
designed for Audio/Video applications.

Pictured on the right is Whirlwind's
WD-1 reel loaded with 500' of heavy-duty
fiber optic cable.

SC type connectors are integrated into the
reel flange and the opposite end is Whirlwind's
TFOL (Tactical Fiber Optic Link) connector
designed for use in demanding applications.

WD1 and WD2
Ideal for storage of microphone
and small diameter multipair cable.
Integral handles make them easy to
carry and store.

WD3 and WD3S
Large capacity reels that feature
removable crank handles and pillow-block
bearings for smooth cranking under heavy
loads.The unique split reel design offers
easy access to both ends of the cable
without having to unspool the entire length.

WD4 and WD4D
Super-large capacity reels have removable
crank handles. Both feature pillow-block
bearings, and the WD4D offers split reel
design.

(WD4D)

WD5
Designed for applications with a fanout
at the reel end, the WD5 incorporates a
split reel for the fanout section and pigbag.
It features a durable base tray for storage
of a stage box, an ergonomic carrying handle,
and an adjustable friction brake to prevent
cable overrun. Rugged welded steel channel
construction and black non-reflective matte
finish make this reel (along with the WD6,
and the WD7) ideal for remote van applications.

WD6 AND WD7
Compact, stackable reels available in
two sizes Locking casters are available
on the WD7C. These reels feature a built-in
connector panel which can be be punched,
loaded and/or wired with the connectors and
cable of your choice for an additional charge.
Ergonomic carrying handles allow one or two
person transport of the full reel. An adjustable
friction brake helps to prevent cable overrun
when spooling out cable.

WD8C
This imported reel is built to our
demanding specifications. Features
smooth bearings, lock mechanism and
heavy duty casters. A side plate is
provided that can be custom punched,
wired and engraved to provide an
integrated "Snake on a Reel" solution
as shown below.

MRLG AND MRSM
These reels are lightweight and economical.
The sturdy welded frame and integral fan-out
storage make them ideal for storing
Medusa^® Series snakes or
microphone cables.

Medusa^� with Integrated Reel

A REEL Storage Solution
Some pre-manufactured reels (like
Whirlwind's WD-5) have a built in tray
on the bottom for storing the stage box.
Here's another solution that can make set-up,
tear-down and transportation a lot easier.
Our WD-7 reel has a built in connector plate
on its side that can be punched and wired to
your custom specifications. Surprisingly, it's
not a lot more expensive than buying a standard
Medusa^� snake with a separate reel.
